Somatic Movement Education
The Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education fosters layered awareness through gentle movements that are invited through cues that ask for a deep attention and awareness of your entire self. It is a sensory process that offers you a place where you can safely and playfully explore movements and how you interpret instructions. Without a movement demonstration, you are given the opportunity to discover your own way of moving based on your unique history. As a result, you’ll soon learn to adopt more effective ways of moving, and as such, more effective ways of living.
Why does it matter?
Because your body, mind, and nervous system hold within them your whole history.
“Our actions largely depend on our heredity, on what we have been through in our lives, on the image we have formed of ourselves, on the physical, cultural, and societal environments in which we have grown and the ones in which we now function.”

Moshe Feldenkrais, Elusive Obvious
When we engage in small and slow movements, we reduce the stimuli which allows us to heighten our ability to sense, feel and notice. As a result, a whole new world begins to open up.

We suddenly begin to become aware of little differences, sometimes quite big, in how we move on one side compared to the other. All of a sudden we can trace where our discomforts are actually originating from so we can truly make a shift that makes a difference in the long run. We begin to notice what our physical pattern of worry, anxiety, lack of self-worth feels like. We know it holds a grip on our thoughts, sometimes paralyzing us from being able to act, but where does it physically have a hold over us? Where are we unable to move when we worry about the future?
To Empower Growth
You will learn to:

-
Make distinctions and notice differences
-
Trace where discomforts originate from
-
Become aware of your physical patterns related to our thoughts and feelings
It's important for you to know that making subtle physical shifts has a profound effect on how we relate to our inner world and through that to our outer world. I love this saying: “Life happens through you not to you" by Derek Rydall. It took me many years to come to a place where I could sense the meaning of this statement.

I know that it can feel completely unrelated, but I invite you to give yourself the gift to explore how an enhanced ease in movement, greater range of motion, improved flexibility and refined coordination can rekindle your natural ability to move in a way that feels good. Being able to move with ease and joy will begin to deepen your understanding of how movement influences all aspects of your life - giving you the gift of living the life you’ve always wanted.
